How best to use it?
Balance is an amazing oil to use at the start of your day.
By applying to the base of your big toe (according to reflexology) you're directly linking to the Brain and Pituitary Glands (Have a look here at the chart which explains it) as we know our stress response begins here so if we can do something to support it then that's a huge bonus.
There are other reasons to apply Balance to the base of the feet as well. The soles of the feet have around 72,000 nerve ending per foot and they contain the most sensitive nerve endings per square centimeter than any other part of your body. This enables the benefits of the oils to reach multiple systems and areas of the body which need support. Studies have found that 20 minutes after applying oils to the soles of the feet traces of the oil can be found throughout the entire body. Who knew the feet could be so important in allowing the body to gain the benefits of essential oils?!
I also love to diffuse Balance. It's got a beautiful scent which blends well with Wild Orange or Bergamot.
How I use Balance.
Overwhelm is something that I have struggled with in the past (as we all have) and I use Balance along with breathing techniques to support me in this. My favourite technique is to drop a couple of drops into the palm of my hand and bring them to my nose. I then do some box breathing (in for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, out for 4 counts and hold for 4 counts. Repeat this cycle a couple of times). By doing this I'm not only utilising the calming properties of the oils but I'm using breathing techniques to return myself to calm state.
